Abstract

In Mathematics, study result that comes from student is still far from expectation since there are a lot of teachers applying the method of teaching in the same way that is lecturing. Thus, student will be less active in classroom and decrease their creative thinking because, they are expected to memorize the concept of material and they tend to be a student who only receipt information. The research aimed to know the influence of Van Hiele Theory toward study result in mathematics especially in material namely Attribute of Plane Figure for third grade in Bustanul Ulum Islamic Elementary School of Batu. The research used quantitative approach with experimental research. True experimental design was taken with Protest-Only-Control-Design as the form design. The method of the research comprises test and observation. The research was conducted toward third grade student in Bustanul Ulum Islamic Elementary School of Batu consist of two classes, there are experimental class with 40 students and the rest is control class with 40 students. The research is implemented on 2018/2019 school year in February 2018. The Result indicates that there are significant influence on the implementation of Van Hiele theory against the result of the study on material namely Attribute of Plane Figure. The research has proved from pre-requisites and hypothesis with the following results: a). A test of normality by using smirnov lomogrov value Sig is 0,314 > 0.05 can be inferred data has a normal distribute. b). homogeneity test obtained Sig value 0.337 > 0.05 can be inferred data has a variety or variant homogenous or equal. c). test of hypothesis using Independent Sample T-Test Sig.(2-tailed) is 0.007 < 0.0 and T-Hitung obtained 4.331 > T-Tabel 0.932. According to those statistics there is a significant influence in implementing Van Hiele theory, and it’s surely able to use in lower class. That can be confirmed as an effective way on learning and teaching because the learning indicator has been well-achieved.
