Abstract

Background: Changes in sedentary life in female students are related to a decrease in physical activity that results in overweight. Overweight is accumulation of body fat due to reduced energy expenditure. Overweight can cause musculoskeletal disorders and one of type of musculoskeletal disorders that ofen occurs is low back pain myogenic. Low back pain myogenic is pain in low back caused by myogenic factors or muscles as source of pain. Purpose: To determine the relationship of overweight in female students to the incidence of low back pain myogenic. Research Method: This is a analytic study with cross sectional approach. Ninety participants are recruited using purposive sampling. Overweight body mass index obtained by measuring height and weight while low back myogenic pain was measured by the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire. Result: The study with the spearmen test obtained a value of p = 0.02 smaller than the significance value of 0.005. Conclusion: There is a relationship between overweight in female students to the incidence of low back pain myogenic
