Abstract

Departing from the needs analysis which was conducted at SDN 2 Sukomulyo on October 24, 2018, it was found that the mathematic learning material which was still considered difficult by students was the material on space, time, and velocity. This was due to a lack of understanding of the material of space, time, and velocity.Hence, the teacher needs a diagnostic test to diagnose students' weaknesses in the material ofspace, time, and velocity. This study aimed at producing a diagnostic test instrument to determine students' understanding of thespace, time, and velocity in the form of multiple choice. The type of research employed a development research. ADDIEmodelwas utilized as the development model. The stages comprised: (1) stage of analysis, (2) stage of design, (3) stage of development, (4) stage of implementation, (5) evaluation stage. The subjects of the trial in this study were fifth grade students of SDN Sukomulyo II Pujon, which numbered 20 students. Departing from the results of the trial phase, it was found that the diagnostic test instrument in the form of multiple choices was categorized as valid since the result of the validity obtained 3.6 and fulfilled the criteria, which is ≥3.26. Furthermore, theobtainedresult of the validity was 3.7 in the good category (no need to revise). The reliability test result obtained 0.742 with a high category. Multiple choice diagnostic test instruments hadthe level of difficulty with an average result of 0.55 in a moderate category which is in the range of 0.31-0.70. Multiple choice diagnostic test instruments have a differentiating power with an average of 0.3 in the good category and in the range of Dp> 0.20. Diagnostic testis recommended to be applied in the material for space, time, and velocity for class V in elementary school for the sake of finding weaknesses that exist in students
