Abstract

Dehumanization of women has occurred throughout the history of human life, women in many places is men’s subordinate. In a patriarchal society, women are often still regarded as second sex. It is in everyday life still often embedded in mind that women are just Konco Wingking, taking care of children, cooking and doing other domestic work. Furthermore, this dehumanization also occur in western history as well as in Islam. Annemarie Schimmel calls “women as always a friend of religion, but generally religion is not a friend for women ". This is very inversely related with Islam, which is very upholding the dignity of women. There are verses in many letters of Qur'an that hold the existence of women. In fact, Qur'an explicitly consider men and women as equal (Al-musawah), so that women's existence is a balancing power for men. The correlation between men and women in Qur'an is "mutualistic" which gives birth to a harmonious system of life. The harmony system is there if not ignore one each other. This spirit is what Qur'an wants to give. Pursuant to historical perspective, women fall to political system, economic and social oppression, both living in a male-oriented society (patriarchy). (Muhammad Syahrour: 2003; 211); the wish for high ideals and moral law as the basis for contemporary Islamic views is important to refrain to consider the laws of fiqh as the basis of argument, especially the regard to women (Muhammad Syahrour: 2003; 214). Partai Keadilan Sejahtera has more than 30% of women candidate. Unfortunately, they are in a low position so that the chances of winning is very small. A political quota of 30% for women is very important. Anshor (2007) argues that affirmative action is needed to bring more women into politics to address the issues faced by women of politicians especially against gender-biased interpretations of teaching. In addition, it is none other than to fulfill the claim that al-Islam is shalih li kulli zaman wa makan, and even more so, Al-Islam ya'lu wa la yu'la 'alaih-i. Yet, what is needed now is not the involvement of women, because women have been involved from the very beginning but only a few of their quota, unless to create a just gender relation in all relationships between men and women in various sectors of life, especially politics.
