Abstract

In inter-cultural communication, cultural similarities in perceptions allow for a similar meaning also in an event or social object. In science communication, there are two interrelated functions between each other. That is the first, as a social function, aims to build, maintain relationships between individuals. Second, the message interpretation function, that is the communication of ideas, language, ideas, opinions, sent by the source to the communicant (receiver) is the message. Related to socio-cultural traditions in society today, explained that the communication takes place in a particular cultural context because communication is affected and therefore influence the culture of a society. As contained in night ceremony of 1st Syuro, symbols or messages contained in it has very important meaning for villagers in Trowulan. Messages or symbols that indicate in this ceremony that the public should be able to preserve the cultural heritage of previous ancestors. Research into the exploration group is based on the phenomenon of Javanese tradition that is conducted every new years of Java. And interesting to do in this research is what the communication messages behind 1 suro night ceremony. To get a complete knowledge of the research, the results should describe the suroan tradition done every year in Trowulan. The theory foundation : (1) Reasoned Action (2) The effectiveness of the message theory. Through these two theoretical foundation as the basics to find what the meaning behind the communication problems. Describe of the 1 suro night ceremony, first select the sites for research is the Village Trowulan, every year in the month of Java in a great hall there do the tradition. this research paradigm is constructivism, develop ideas about the events that occurred in various ways and plotted relative. Using a qualitative research approach with specific inferences to the general, from the phenomenon that is associated with the theory. Techniques of data collection through interviews, observation and documentation. By Amung-Tani community as the respondent. those who every year make the ceremony at the Trowulan great hall. How to obtain the data is by using “permisi masuk” strategy into the village heads and community leaders met. Technical data obtained from field locations in the form of life story data of respondents, and data to answer the communication messages of the night ceremony at 1 suro in the Kejawen Community. Technical validity of the data by Source triangulation, methods Triangulation, Triangulation of theory. Research results in Trowulan indicates that the messages contained in the 1st suro night ceremony are (1) Sacred Ritual, (2) Traditional Art that should be preserved (3) The communication activities that have meaning, (4) Grebeg 1 suro as a social communication (5) Macapat as a collective (6) Pagelaran Wayang as a media of communication.
