Abstract

Basa Jawa is an ability that students must be possessed, besides mastering Bahasa and English. Communicating in Basa Jawa have to use “unggah-ungguh” or manners to interlocutors. The desire of using Basa Jawa in students is so poor, most of them has not be able to utter Basa Jawa with properly adn correctly. Because of this case Pacelathon in Basa Jawa need to be held. This Research aim to find out: (1) Implementation of Pacelathon as School Literacy Movement (SLM) in SDN Kauman 1 Malang, and (2) The benefit of Pacelathon literacy in SDN Kauman 1 Malang. This study uses descriptive qualitative research. As the data source, grades I to V students who in school year 2018/2019 have selected in SDN Kauman 1 Malang which amounts to 151 students. The research held on January 14 – February 28, 2019. The result of research shows Pacelathon implementation in grades I to III really needed teacher assistance because students on that level has not be able to speak Basa Jawa with properly, beside that grades IV and V does not needed teacher assistance. Because they had be able to speak Basa Jawa with properly, but their intonation had not correct. Speed of reading becomes an obstacle for Pacelathon Basa Jawa implementation, difficulty in reading Basa Jawa number and difficulty in reading Basa Jawa, it caused students communicate with Bahasa in school with that result the application of Basa Jawa in school environment does not noticed, the obstacle felt by the teacher is the limited implementation time of Pacelathon which is only 25 minutes and students did not bring Pacelathon book. Supporting factors extensive yard infrastructure and there are Pacelathon Basa Jawa books. Pacelathon Basa Jawa would increase students’ manners, increase students’ character values, increase students’ Basa Jawa knowledge, increase knowledge in Javanese cultural.
