Abstract

The 21st century is a condition that global challenges and technological developments growing rapidly. In fact to face global challenges cultivation of characters is really needed so that the current or next generations can compete. This is in line with The President’s Order No. 87 in 2017 that Implementation of Strengthening Character Education through Culture in school as efforts strengthen character of students. SD Muhammadiyah 4 Batu already implemented Implementation of Strengthening Character Education through Culture program with one base that can support Implementation of Strengthening Character Education, which is school culture. This research aims to describe implementation of Strengthening Character Education through school culture, planting character values of visible students, obstacles faced by the school, and effort given in overcoming obstacles implementation of Strengthening Character Education through school culture. Qualitative descriptive is the type of research used in this current study. Observation, interview, and documentation are the technique used. Observation is doing by researcher about school activity which is school culture, school infrastructure, and school environment. Some interviewing did by researcher to the some sources about the research. Researcher used Miles and Huberman (2015) data analisys which are collecting data, reduce data, Peneliti menggunakan analisis data Miles and Huberman (2015) dengan cara mengumpulkan data, mereduksi data, presentation, and conclusion. The result shows implementation of Strengthening Character Education through school culture in SD Muhammadiyah 4 Batu did by school program, habituation and examplary teacher. Religious character has five sub-values which are: love peace, anti-bully and violence, friendship, anti-egoistic, protect the excluded. Nationalist character there are 6 sub values, which are: low abiding in school, willing to sacrifice, excel and superior, love the country, protect the environment. Independent characters have four sub-values that appear, namely: tough, fighting power, brave, become lifelong learners. The value of mutual cooperation characters are three sub-values that appear, called: respect, help, and solidarity. Integrity character has three sub-values that appear, namely: faithful, exemplary, and honesty. For next research Furthermore, it is recommended to review related school extracurricular activities and community-based on Strengthening Character Education, especially at the elementary school level.
