Abstract

The application of literacy at Muhammadiyah 8 Elementary School KH Mas Mansur, Malang City has been well organized by literacy activities such a read and write held in the morning before learning begins. The literacy activities need to be developed into other types of literacy such as numeracy literacy which studies mathematics in everyday life. This study aims to find how the development of numerical wallchart media at Muhammadiyah Elementary School 8 KH Mas Mansur Malang City. This wallchart media was developed as one of the media used as a means of supporting numeracy literacy. The type of research used is development research with qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques. Qualitative data analysis was obtained through observation, interview and documentation activities, while quantitative data analysis was obtained through filling in teacher response questionnaires and student responses. The selected data source is class I to grade V students and their homeroom teacher at Muhammadiyah 8 Elementary School KH Mas Mansur, Malang City. This research was conducted in the even semester of Academic Year 2018/2019 on March 12, 2019 until March 14, 2019. The results of the validation carried out in this research and development were obtained from media experts and material experts conducted in 2 stages. Media validation in the first stage produced a validity level of 65% and media validation after revision increased to 70%. While the validation of the first stage material experts with 75% validity level and in the second stage produces 84.9% after revision. The results showed that numeracy wallchart media developed well as indicated by the acquisition of scores on teacher responses with an average of 98.18%, while students' responses reached an average of 93.98%. Based on these data, the numerical wallchart media is effective to be used as a means of supporting numeracy literacy. The statement was supported by students' responses stating that the media can foster numeracy literacy. The readability of the media in reaching large classes needs to be considered, and maximizing the wallchart media according to its function needs to be reconsidered. The teacher can develop the material as needed by replacing the material on the wallchart that has been given adhesive.
