Abstract

Background: Soap is applicated to clean dirt from the skin. The combination of coconut oil, palm oil and soybeans is a natural material that can be used as a base for producing soap. Cinnamomum powder can be used as a scrub in soap preparations. Objective: This purpose of this research is to determine the effect of using a combination of coconut oil: palm oil (20%: 30%, 25%: 25%, and 30%: 20%) with 50% soybean oil on the physical and chemical characteristics of scrub soap it produced. Method: The soap was made by the cold process method. Furthermore, an evaluation of the physical and chemical characteristics of soap preparations included fatty acid, organoleptic, pH, foam test, and soap texture in which the result will be analyzed with statistic analysis. Results and Conclusions: The results showed that the use of a combination from coconut oil base: palm oil (25%: 30%, 25%: 25%, and 30%: 20%) with 50% soybean oil gave a significant difference in acidity test (pH), while the concentration of fatty acids, organoleptic, foam test, and soap texture did not occur significantly.
