Abstract

The research is concerning to Classroom Action Research (CAR) which use qualitative and quantitative approaches. The research is purpose to escalate the student activities and their result of study through cooperative learning model type STAD. This learning model is particularly tends to conducting student group learning heterogeneous or in various composition. The students are expected to help each other through their group learning, at the end of the activity, students should work their job individually and not allowed to help one and another. The subject of this research was the fourth grade student of SDN Mojolangu 5 Malang which numbers 28. The objects of this research were student’s learning activities and the result of student’s learning in science on cognitive. This research is conducted into 2 cycles which consists of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The implementation of learning has been well-running in accordance with the step on implementing cooperative learning model type STAD in the first cycle and second cycle. At the first cycle, the percentage of student activity shown approximately 55%, and the second cycle was 92%. In the other hand, the percentage of their result of study in the first cycle shown approximately 36% along with classical comprehensiveness that established by the school for amount 70%, whereas the second cycle has shown the classical comprehensiveness approximately 82%. To sum up, the result of research points out that the implementation of cooperative learning type STAD can raise student activity and also their study result.
