Abstract

Exposure of L2 language is one of many aspects which helps in developing one’s foreign language proficiency. Extensive reading is known as an activity which provides the opportunity to explore language in its natural context. Reading, which is not a born skill, needs to be nurtured, thus introducing reading from an early age is expected to bring more effective results. This paper attempts to propose a framework of integrating extensive reading in elementary school in Indonesia which aims mainly on gaining vocabulary knowledge. Aspects needed in its implementation are described and followed by the suggestion to integrate extensive reading into the language curriculum.
