Abstract

Background : Sambiloto is one of the plants that can lower blood glucose due to possessing andrografolide. The existed pharmaceutical forms of sambiloto was still in herbs and capsules. Therefore, it is a need to develop a formulation of standardized tablets. Objective : The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of PVP K-30 concentrations of 1%, 2%, and 3% on the physical quality of sambiloto extract tablets and to determine the optimal concentrations of PVP K-30 that can meet the required result. Method : The extract of sambiloto was made by applying ultrasonic maceration method with ethanol 96%. Then, the tablets were made by using wet granulation method with PVP K-30 concentrations of 1%, 2%, and 3%. The examination on the physical characteristics covered the hardness, friability, and tablet disintegration time then analized statistically. Result and Conclusion : The results showed that the increase can also increase the hardness, lower friability, and reduce tablet disitegegration. The statistic analysis showed that there were differences on the hardness and tablet disintegraton. However, the difference of friability tablet was 2% and 3%. The formula with PVP K-30 concentration of 1% (F2) was the selected formula that met the requirements.
