Abstract

Background : Sambiloto is one of the plants that has efficacy as a blood sugar lower, because it contains andrografolida compound. The existed pharmaceutical forms of sambiloto was still in herbs, pill and capsule. Therefore, it is need to develop a formulation of standardized tablets. Objective : The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of HPMC 2910 3 cps concentrations of 1%, 2%, and 3% on the physical quality of sambiloto leaf extract tablets and to determine the optimum concentrations of HPMC 2910 3 cps that can meet the requirement result. Method : The extract of sambiloto leaf was made by applying ultrasonic maceration method with ethanol 96%. Then, the tablets were made by using wet granulation method with HPMC 2910 3 cps concentrations of 1%, 2%, and 3%. The examination on the physical characteristics covered the hardness, friability, and tablet disintegration time then analized statistically. Result and Conclusion : The result showed that the increase of HPMC 2910 3 cps concentration of 1%, 2% and 3% give significant difference on the hardness and disintegration time, while the friability give significant difference on the concentration of 2% and 3%. The formula with HPMC 2910 3 cps concentration of 1% (F2) was the selected formula that met the requirements.
