Literature is one of the arts, distinguished from the other arts in that it is a verbal structure. It is a structure of words composed in such a way that there is harmony of all related parts to the whole. Being an art of words, literature can help people become more sensitive to language. Since it gives aesthetic pleasure to the readers, it will act as a stimulus to elicit their aesthetic and emotional responses. As one of the kinds of literature, a fiction novel is an extended fictional prose narrative. As a long story book, it provides imaginative reconstructions of the life complexity. In this thesis, one of Agatha Christie’s novel entitled “Towards Zero” was selected to be analyzed. This study was focused on the theme and lesson of Agatha Christie’s novel entitled “Towards Zero”. Therefore, it had two purposes, namely: (1) to know the theme of Agatha Christie’s novel “Towards Zero” and (2) to explain the lesson that can be taken from Agatha Christie’s novel “Towards Zero. In analyzing this novel, the descriptive qualitative research method was applied because this study was concerned with an analitic description of the theme and lesson of “Towards Zero”. The objective approach was used because the writer only studied the story of the novel itself, considered the literary work as an individual entity that existed on the page which allowed the writer to read and understand in its own right. The result of the data analysis showed the following findings. The theme of Agatha Christie’s novel “Towards Zero” was that position, status, and fame sometimes make someone not realized that his/her mistake caused fatal consequences to someone else, while its main lesson is that we cannot judge a book from its cover.
