Abstract

Burns are injuries caused by direct contact with high temperatures such as fire, hot water, electricity, chemicals, radiation. Burns will result not only damage to the skin, but also affect the entire system of the patient's body. Natrium Metamizole is a methanesulfonate of pyrazolone derivatives that is analgesic and antipyretic, but its antiinflammatory properties are weak. The mechanism of action of Natrium metamizole works to inhibit pain transmission to the central and peripheral nervous system absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. Objective: This study aims to discover the usage pattern of Natrium Metamizole on burn patients in Sidoarjo Public Hospital on the period of February to December 2014. Method: This study employed retrospective observational method by presenting the data descriptively. The inclusive criteria covered burn patients that got Natrium Metamizole therapy and other drugs that accompanied it. Result and Conclusion: The use of single dose Natrium Metamizole was 19 patients (51%) and combination in 18 patients (49%). The use of single dose natrium metamizole (3x500mg) IV in 14 patients (74%). Combination of natrium Metamizole at most natrium Metamizole (3x500mg) IV + Ketorolac (3x30mg) IV as many as 4 patients (57%). Natrium Metamizole switch pattern(3x500mg), IV-> Mefenamat acid (3x500mg), PO at most 4 patients (26%).
