Abstract

(Oryza sativa L.) is the main food crop in Indonesia, because more than 90% of Indonesia's population consumes rice. Many insect pests that attack rice plants and most importantly are brown planthopper pests. According to data from the East Java BPTP there has been an increase in the population of brown plant hopper in inpari 32 varieties of rice in 2017 in Ngajum Subdistrict, Malang Regency, which caused a reduction in the yield of these rice plants. Therefore the Department of Agriculture for Food Crops, Horticulture and Plantation in Malang Regency advises farmers to try using inpari 33 varieties (BPTP 2017). The purpose of this study was to determine the level of effectiveness of Beauveria bassiana fungi in controlling brown plant hopper and to know the effect of border plants in reducing the population of brown plant hopper. This research will be conducted in Ngajum District, Malang Regency.This study used a simple Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 3 treatments and 3 replications. The first treatment (P1) was using the application of Beauveria bassiana and border plants kenikir and soybeans, the second treatment (P2) using Beauveria bassiana and in the control treatment (K1) using synthetic plenum pesticides. The density of 1011 spores with a concentration of 11 ml / liter of water. For concentrations of synthetic pesticides 8-10 gr / liter of water.The variables observed included the intensity of brown plant hopper attacks, brown plant hopper population, number of panicle panicles, empty grain weight, grain wet weight, grain dry weight, time of panicle discharge and ubinan per plot. Observation data were analyzed using the BNJ test at the level of 5%. The results showed the treatment of biological agents Beauveria bassiana and border plants kenikir and soybeans were more effective in dealing with brown plant hopper pests to overcome the number of solid populations and the intensity of brown planthopper pest attacks. There is an average number of tillers of inpari 33 varieties of rice which is the highest as much as 26.80 at the age of 6-8 MST (Week After Planting), the time of panicle discharge occurs in rice plants aged 8 MST or 65 HST(Day After Planting) and the yield of the potatoes is 8.5 tons / hectare.
