Abstract

The use of social media is no longer only to interact but also to influence public opinion, we can see in social media account instagram demo_krazy. demo_krazy has some 127,000 followers followers and is the only country that instagram account actively discussing the Indonesian political polemic. Demo_krazy messages conveyed through images and captions appear to want to impose a particular person or group. From this background, researchers are interested to test and analyze what the propaganda technique most widely appeared in demo_krazy instagram account and how big the frequency of occurrence. The approach used by researchers is the quantitative approach. This type of research is quantitative descriptive selected on the basis of quantitative content analysis research. The scope of this study is the image and caption on the image on Nawacita start the third week of October 2014 until the third week of January 2015 a total of 27 images and captions. The unit of analysis of this study that the text contained in the image and caption on the Nawacita associated with propaganda techniques in accordance with a category structure. Reliability test results and analysis of the data showed that the category Card Stacking has the highest frequency of occurrence of as many as 14 images or 51.85% emergence. The frequency of occurrence is the second largest Testimonials 5 or 18.51% emergence. The third largest category is the frequency of occurrence of Name Calling and Bandwagon with images and the same percentage as much as 3 images or 11.11% emergence. Finally, the technique of propaganda Transfer has a frequency of at least 2 images or 7.4% emergence. From these results it can be concluded that instagram has become a new media into propaganda. Instagram so that now not only used as a medium for socializing and communicating. However, the messages conveyed through images and captions can also be propadanda on instagram followers to achieve certain interests.
