Abstract

VANET is an Ad-Hoc network that provides communication between vehicles to form a self-organized network without fixed infrastructure. VANET can be applied to urban and highway environments so that there are several problems, namely frequent changes in network mobility and termination. One of the solutions is using position-based routing protocols such as LAR (Location Aided Routing). VANET performance is influenced by the propagation model that has different capabilities and characteristics, therefore it is necessary to do research on LAR with several propagation models that will affect the performance of QoS to determine the appropriate propagation model in a predetermined environment. This research uses Free Space, Two Ray Ground and Nakagami propagation models by applying SUMO as a mobility simulator and NS-2 as a simulator network. In this research, QoS analysis of ad-hoc networks was carried out with the parameters tested were packet delivery ratio (PDR), throughput and end-to-end delay. From several scenarios that have been tested by varying the number of node densities, random movements, random node speeds and 2 different map environment schemes at Malang Merdeka Square and Gempol - Pandaan Toll Road, Performance of routing protocol LAR with Nakagami propagation model get the best results in urban and highway environments compared to Free Space and Two Ray Ground. Nakagami is able to work stably by modeling signal propagation fading and considering closer distances.
