Abstract

Teaching English for kindergarten students are not emphasized on the communication, structural building sentence or grammatical sentence but it is focused on giving the basic knowledge in English language. Teacher must be able to use various techniques to make the students more interested in learning English.. The purposes of this study were: (1) to find out the teaching technique employed by the teacher in teaching English at TK Permata Iman Malang and (2) to know the implementation of the techniques in teaching English at TK Permata Iman Malang. This study used descriptive qualitative methods. The writer used the teacher of class B (Big Class) as the subject of this study since she had a good qualification in teaching English and applied certain technique in English teaching. The instruments used to gather the data were observation and interview. The data in this research were collected in the classroom by joining four times classroom teaching to observe the techniques used in teaching English to kindergarten students. Then, interviewing the teacher with questions concerning with the techniques in teaching English. The findings of this study shown that there were two kinds of techniques used by the teacher in teaching English of class B (Big Class) at TK Permata Iman Malang. Those were: (1) Song and (2) Game (a) Translation­Competition, (b) Instructions Coloring. In implementing song, teacher gave children songs. Actually, students were already familiar with the songs. The implementation Translation­Competition game, the teacher used the technique by giving question to the students in English and the students have to answer to Indonesia language and otherwise. The implementation Instruction­Coloring game, the teacher gave instruction to the students before the class begins. She gave the students pictures of star and ball, she distributed the color ink of yellow and red in other to the students could color the pictures. The teacher chose those techniques because it was easy and suitable to the Kindergarten students especially for students in Class B (Big Class) at TK Permata Iman Malang.
