Abstract

In designing the generator there is a selection of slots and poles used in the design. The slot-pole combination affects the characteristics of the generator designed. To find out more about the effect of slot-pole selection, a study was conducted by comparing 9 designs with different number of slot-poles. Combined slot-pole combinations include 12 slot 8 pole, 12 slot 10 pole, 12 slot 16 pole, 15 slot 8 pole, 15 slot 10 pole, 15 slot 16 pole, 18 slot 8 pole, 18 slot 10 pole, and 18 slot 16 pole. Each design is a development from the design of a generator with a capacity of 1 kW. Each design is analyzed using the finite element (FE) method, then the output parameters are compared in the form of linkage flux, voltage, current, torque and power. From the results of the study it can be concluded that the addition of the number of slot-poles influences the specified output parameters, the design recommendation for making a generator of 9 models that has been made is a generator with a combination of 18 slot 8 pole.
