Abstract

Solar panels can be an alternative to independent electricity generation. The use of solar panels is also much more economical and promising, from various solar panel modeling designs using the diode approach there is an influence on the output of the I(V) and P(V) curves. In this research, a three diode approach to solar panel modeling was developed. This research was carried out because it aims to provide valid data and results from testing the Solar Panel model using 3 diodes in simulations and direct test results against sunlight. The simulation results of this modeling using 1, 2 and 3 diodes as comparison variables are made on variations in solar radiation to produce IV and PV characteristic curves that match the actual PV characteristics, where a decrease in solar radiation will cause a decrease in the output current of the solar panel model. From the comparison of the results of this research, it can be concluded that modeling using the 3 diode approach has more optimal results approaching the maximum power of the solar panel compared to one diode and two diodes.
