Abstract
Rapid technology development results many things happening in telecommunication world, as well as in mobile vehicle network. Technology that has been developed makes the entire networks are based on IP, therefore a VANET network technology is designed wireless network that is able to handle data communication between vehicles on the highway. VANET has high vehicle mobility characteristic and very fast topology change. From this characteristic, data communication in VANET network runs very fast and often has intermittent connection between nodes. To minimize this problem, it can be applied DSRC communication technology which is wireless technology developed based on Wi-Fi standard to support the exchange of information between V2V (Vehicle to Vehicle) and V2I (Vehicle to Infrastructure). This test aims to vary the transmission distance range to increase reliability on routing path used and to create longer connection between vehicles in very fast changing network condition. The test was conducted in several models of road scenario in Malang City, while the routing protocols used in this study were AODV, DSR, and TORA. After the data test collected, it is concluded that DSR routing protocol is able to provide the best performance compared to AODV and TORA by having the lowest routing overhead value of 1.411,75. DSR is able to work stably at the receive sense threshold distance above 250 m with the excellence value of drop packets, packet delivery ratio, and delay.
