Abstract

Frequency setting is vital for an micro hydro power plant. Frequency control system on the micro hydro power plant with synchronous generator are basically two kinds, namely, Governor or flow control valve (FCV) for the turbine and the electronic load controller (ELC). Disadvantages FCV system is its inability to react quickly in the event of sudden load changes but has very low harmonics. Instead, the Electronic Load Controller (ELC), which is considered better than in FCV in terms of frequency response, but these systems generate harmonics that exceeded the limit set by the IEEE 519-1992. This paper discusses how to integrate the two systems FCV and ELC for an micro hydro power plant so that more efficient compared with FCV and ELC system to indicate the performance of the frequency and THD (total harmonic distortion) with the simulation at the time of load reduction 10 KW. In the analysis of system integration FCV-ELC frequency response obtained during 1.4071. and the THD for the first load reduction at 8.57% with a sample of 5% cycle.
