Abstract

Teaching strategy in the teaching and learning activity are related to the teaching method and teaching technique used by teacher and also teaching strategy is basic of teaching. Before the teacher teaches the student, teacher must prepare what the method and technique use in teaching and learning process. Therefore, teaching strategy is an important part that needed by the teacher in supporting the teaching process. This study aimed to investigate how to the English teacher implemented teaching strategy at SMAN 2 Pasuruan. This study describes teaching strategy of English Teacher at SMAN 2 Pasuruan. In describing, the researcher used qualitative method to obtain the data and the teacher use interview to approve the data. After analyzing the data, the researcher found that English teacher uses several strategies. They were three phase strategy, teacher explanation, group discussion and making question. In addition, teacher teaches student about understanding the text. The researcher also found in interview that teacher always use teaching explanation in every meeting.
