Abstract

This study aims to describe students' metacognition abilities in solving math story problems with number pattern material. This type of research is descriptive with qualitative and qualitative approaches. Data collection techniques are used by giving written tests to class VIII-C students of Malang State 25 Middle School, totaling 24 people. Based on the results of the written test, 2 students from each of the high, medium and low categories were selected based on metacognition knowledge and further analyzed through interview tests to find out the students' metacognition skills. The results showed that: (1) students with high metacognitive abilities had high knowledge and skills. (2) Students with metacognitive abilities are having moderate knowledge and metacognition skills. (3) Students with low metacognition abilities differ slightly, ie from 2 students there is one student who has low knowledge and metacognition skills, while the other student has low metacognition knowledge but has moderate metacognition skills.
