Abstract

Plant corn (Zea mays l.) is the second source of carbohydrates after rice. As one source of food, the main commodity after rice. Increased production of corn can also be done by setting the pattern for planting by planting patterns of intercropping systems. Intercropping plant will affect the appearance of the plant and production especially in the efficiency of the use of light intensity (shade). The purpose of this research is to get information of plant growth of corn (Zea mays l.) in intercropping on Palm oil plantations (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.). The design used in this study i.e. the random Design Group (RAK), one factor with 2 treatment rooms, 6 of Deuteronomy. The word Pelakuan i.e. corn without shade (K0), corn among oil palm age 5 years (K1), the varieties used Bisi-2. The observation started planting after 15 days with intervals of 15 days. The observed variables include: number of leaves, plant Height, plant fresh Weight (fresh weight of the upper part, lower part of fresh Weight), weight of fruits per plant, plant dry weight (dry weight upper part, lower part of dry weight), Growth Rate (GR), Relative Growth Rate (RGR), Leaf Area Index (LAI). Corn plants grown without shade treatment of palm oil has a higher rate of growth of plants can be seen on the corn Plant GR variable ditanaman without the Palm shade treatment had a higher rate of growth of plants on the parameters of the GR (g/m2/week), RGR (g/g/week), LAI (m2) compared the treatment of the shade
