Abstract

This research was conducted find out the cooling rate, distortion and mechanical properties of MIG welding with Aluminum A5083. The method is Transient Flame Static Tensioning with flame temperature used is 100ºC, 200ºC and 300ºC. The fastest cooling rate found in 100ºC. The smallest distortion found in 200ºC, 300ºC and 100ºC respectively. The highest maximum tensile strength in 100ºC flame temperature variation is 231,197 Mpa, while in 200ºC is 169,658 Mpa and in 300ºC flame temperature variation is 156,729 Mpa. The highest hardness of specimen base metal in 200ºC flame temperature is 10,8584 kg/mm2, while highest hardness of specimen HAZ in 300ºC flame temperature is 15,9812 kg/mm2. Moreover, highest hardness of specimen weld metal in 300ºC flame temperature is 12,5805 kg/mm2. 200ºC of flame temperature is the ideal temperature for welding.
