Abstract

Humans use language to interact with each other. Communication using the language allows everyone to be able to adapt to their social environment. Humans use language to express their thoughts in an attempt to interact with their society. Most Indonesian people use two languages to interact, commonly referred as interference. Based on that, the formulation of the problem in this study are (1) how is the form of phonological interference on sale and buy transactions in Sumberkolak Market, Situbondo? This research used the descriptive qualitative method. Sources of data were obtained through sellers and buyers in the process of buying and selling transactions in Sumberkolak Market, Situbondo. Collecting data in this research used “see and note” technique. Based on that, the data was processed through several steps, they are (1) the recording of data based on the results of the simulations, (2) the stage of identifying data in the form of error recognition, (3) data classification stage based on error sources, (3) development stage concepts and theories of error. From the results of the analysis and discussion, it was concluded that in the conversation between the seller and the buyer in the process of buying and selling transactions at Sumberkolak Market, Situbondo showed interference. The result showed that the interference in this research occurred in two linguistic fields, they are phonology and morphology. In the field of phonology, interference occurs in the reduction of letters and letter changes. While in the field of morphology, the interference is seen in the formation of words, affixation and reduplication process. Moreover, morphological interference can also be seen from the type of words used, verbs, nouns, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, numerals, and conjunctions,
