Abstract

Celery is a vegetable that is well known among the people of Indonesia. Celery plants have many benefits in addition to including healthy vegetables for humans as well as having chemical properties that are efficacious as medicines. Basically the celery prospect is very bright, both in the domestic (domestic) and foreign markets as an export commodity, but celery cultivation in Indonesia which has not been commercially managed and data on harvest area and celery production has not been found nationally. Aquaculture cultivation is still rarely carried out because of environmental conditions that do not match the conditions of growth. By giving the material added to the plant to meet the nutrient requirements needed so that the plant can reproduce properly. Materials that can meet nutrient requirements and stimulate plant growth are needed organic materials. One organic material is rice washing water. Rice washing water can be used as a material that adds nutrients needed by plants. Rice washing water is a waste of household activities which is often wasted. Rice washing water contains elements of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, sulfur, iron and vitamin B1. This content generally functions to help plant growth. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of rice washing water on the mitosis index of the roots of Apium grafeolens L. celery as a learning resource. The type of research used is the actual experiment with the research design of The Post Test Only Control Group Design. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with one independent variable, namely the first rice washing water, the second rice washing water and the third rice washing water. Data from the calculation of the mitosis index were analyzed by one way annova test and continued with the Duncan test at a significance level of 5%. The results showed that there were various effects of rice washing water on the index of celery root (Apium grafeolens L.) mitosis. The more soluble (dilute) rice washing water produces a high cell mitosis index, with an average value of 31.03% obtained from the third rice washing water. The study of the implementation of research as a learning resource is in the form of Student Worksheets for SMA / MA class 12 KD 3.4 analyzes the process of cell division, chapter of cell division, sub-material of mitotic cell division process.
