Abstract

In this technological era, the teachers need to find new innovation in teaching speaking skill. Technology has been used in language teaching and learning by many teachers around the world in latest past. Nowadays, one of media which is supported by technology is vlog. The purposes of this research are to know how the teacher implements vlog in teaching English speaking and the students’ respond after using vlog at second grade of SMA Negeri 3 Lumajang. The research method used qualitative design and descriptive to present the finding of the research. Data for the study were collected by using observation checklist, questionnaire and interview. The subject of this study is a teacher who taught English subject and the students at second grade of SMA Negeri 3 Lumajang. The result of this study showed that there were four steps in implementing vlog as a media. The first is the teacher helps the students to set up their vlog with decide the content, which the content is about song. The students can tell about their favorite song, the meaning and the reason to pick that song. Second, prepare the camera to record a vlog. Third, editing process of vlog. The last, the students submit the video to the teacher by using CD or flash disk. In addition, the students had positive response after using vlog.
