Abstract

This thesis examines the perceptions of students of University of muhammadiyah malang (UMM) on sharia economic studies program about halal label on food products. This research aims to find out how student’s perceptions towards the halal label on the product. Research methods using quantitative descriptive. Researchers conduct research by way of disseminating a questionnaire by determining the number of samples using the formula slovin assisted with Likert scale measurement tool to measure the variables that will be jibarkan into indicator variables. Based on the results of the study showed that a Syariah Economic Department student’ argued that halal-labeled food products had an influence on the morals of a person with a score of 383. Respondents are also willing to pay higher, also willing to travel long distances to buy products labeled kosher. It shows that the high student awareness of the importance of the halal label on food products. factors supporting the students have positive perceptions towards the halal label is because families or relatives nearby always use products labeled kosher food, in addition to the student got the provision of science subjects and verses Hadith of the economy.
