Abstract

Long bean plants are plants that are creeping and seasonal with plant lengths reaching 2.5 M. Stems are erect and creeping in green and the surface is rather slippery, the leaves are compound and oval shaped with pointed edges, flat edges of leaves and have leaf bones pinnate. Leaf length 6-8 cm, width 3-4 cm based on 2016 BPS data that Indonesia long bean production from 2010 - 2016 production of long beans in Indonesia every year has decreased production. The purpose of this study was to determine the morphological characterization of red pod colored strains in long bean plants. It includes qualitative characters and quantitative characters in long bean plants. The activities in this study were to characterize the morphology of the peanuts from several red-colored long bean strains and also to compare the productivity results of the red-colored strains of long beans. This study uses quantitative and qualitative data using a randomized complete group design (RKLT). The study used 9 strains of long bean plants and repeated four times. The experiment consisted of 36 experimental units, each hole planted 2 seeds of plants with a planting depth of 4-5 cm. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the red pod color lines of long bean (Vigna unguiculate (L) Walp). plants have diversity shown in the qualitative parameters and quantitative parameters. The diversity shown in the quantitative parameters consists of leaf length, leaf width, plant length, pod length, and harvest age. The diversity shown in the qualitative parameters consisted of leaf color, leaf tip shape, leaf stalk color, stem color, crown color, pod color and seed color.
