Abstract

Textbooks are an important component which determines the effectiveness and efficiency of learning. The aim of this research is to find out Insan Cendekia Bahasa Indonesia Kelas VIII Semester Genap Tahun Pelajaran 2017-2018 had fulfilled the standard of content/material, presentation, linguistics, layout, and how the advantages/disadvantages of the text were reviewed in terms of content/ material. presentation, language, and graphic. This research is an evaluation research with a gap evaluation model (Discrepancy Evaluation Model) that determines whether there is a discrepancy between objects (textbooks) and the formulation in the book's eligibility standard by BSNP. The instrument used in this study is a feasibility assessment sheet of textbooks based on BSNP standards and the Graph Fry formula is used to measure the level of readability of textbooks. Data collection techniques in this study are documentation techniques and Fry charts. Data obtained through documentation techniques are textbook feasibility data, strengths, and weaknesses of textbooks. Data gathered through the Graph Fry formula is data readability of textbooks. The validity of the data in this study was obtained through investigator triangulation consisting of three assessors namely researchers, Indonesian teachers, and colleagues. In this case, the questionnaire is used in the instrument validation process for the textbook feasibility assessment sheet. The results of the study and discussion showed that the book studied (1) had content/material feasibility with an average score of 74.89%; (2) have the presentation feasibility with an average score of 83.66%; (3) having linguistic feasibility with an average score of 72.46%; (4) having graphic feasibility with an average score of 84.51%; (5) the textbook studied has the advantages of being a textbook that is free from racial intolerance, pornography, gender discrimination, and the presentation of learning has been centered on students that has the unity of the language, harmony of the layout, typography of book contents, appropriate letter variations and standardized book sizes, but also has drawbacks in terms of writing code of ethics, sentence excellence, spelling, punctuation, writing, and selection of cover illustrations.
