Abstract

Giant prawns (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) are the largest freshwater shrimp with high economic value. However, the process of prawns cultivation (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) often encounters obstacles, especially on the ability of molting and slow growth rate. One of the factors that influence is the hormone ekdisteron in the body of the prawns (Macrobrachium rosenbergii). Efforts to improve the ability of molting and growth by adding oral ecdisterone hormones obtained from extraction of purslane plants (Portulaca oleracea). Purslane plant (Portulaca oleracea) one of the plants containing ecdysterone with levels reaching 720 mg/l. The method used was the experimental method, Complete Randomized Design (CRD) of 6 treatments, namely P1 (0 mg/g body weight), P2 (5 mg/g body weight), P3 (10 mg/g body weight), P4 (15 mg/g body weight), P5 (20 mg/g body weight), and P6 (25 mg/g body weight) and 3 replications. The results showed that the effect of giving purslane plant extract (Portulaca oleracea) againts molting frequency and giant prawns growth (Macrobrachium Rosenbergii) Stadia Juvenile was not significantly affected. The best molting frequency in P3 (1.07 ± 0.189 times molting/tail) or if it is presented at 107% of the population. The absolute best weight growth in P3 (9.38 ± 0.280 mg/head/day) and for the best absolute length growth in P3 (0.53 ± 0.0374 mm/head/day). It can be concluded that the effect of giving purslane plant extract (Portulaca oleracea) to the frequency of molting and the growth of giant prawns (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) the best juvenile stage is P3 (10 mg/g body weight)
