Abstract

One type of horticultura fruit plant that can be asource of food and income for the community is star fruit (Averrhoa carambola L.). The result of BPS Tulungagung 2018 data that the results of start fruit production experienced no stability in 2014 to 2016. The cause of the non-stability of the result of star fruit production is fruit fly pests 60 – 100%. The method of control by packaging and chemical pesticides is found to be less effective and dangerous for the environment, so that control by applying the use of methyl eugenol (attracting/luring substances) and traps that can suppers fruit fly populations. Plants contain methyl eugenol namely basil, lemongrass, coves and nutmeg. The aim of the study was to find out the extracts of 4 types of plants with effective concentration levels on the intensity of fruit fly attacks and find out the types of species that were interested in the concentration of plant extracts. The study was conduct in February 2018 to August 2018 on farmers’ land with commodities of star fruit plants less than 10 years old in Tapan village, Kedungwaru sub-district, Tulungagung district. The randomized block design (RBD) which was arranged in factorial consisted of 16 treatment combinations with 1 control treatment and replications. Each treatment in one replications contained 3 samples. The result of the data on the number of fruit flies, number f fruits (fruits attacked and not attacked), and intensityof fruit fly attacks were analysed using variance analysis (ANOVA) and further test using a 5% DMRT test and orthogonal contrast test (MOK). Based on the results of the overall research, it can be obtained the treatment of basil extract with a concentration of 75%; 100%; and 100% clove extract treatment is effective treatment in the research that has been done.
