Abstract

This study aimed to describe: (1) knowing how is the validity of problem solving based learning modules, (2) the influence of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning model assisted by problem solving modules on the mathematical reasoning ability of eighth grade students of SMP, (3) the influence of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning model assisted by problem solving modules on the mathematical resilience of eighth grade students of SMP. This study used quasi-experiment research using a quantitative approach. The population were students of class VIII SMP in odd semester 2018/2019 consisting of 11 classes. The data sources are students of class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Batu and researchers. Samples were taken randomly from the population of 2 classes, as control class and experimental class. The sampling technique is cluster random sampling. The data was taken from validation questionnaire of problem solving based learning module, mathematical resilience scale, and writing test to measure students’ mathematical reasoning abilities. The results showed that: (1) the validity of the problem solving based learning module obtained valid results and was very valid by the validator of material expert I and material expert II, then obtained a valid and highly valid result by media expert I and media expert II; (2) There is an influence between the application of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) models assisted by modules based problem solving on mathematical reasoning abilities; (3) There is an influence between the application of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) models assisted by module based on problem solving on students’mathematical resilience.
