Abstract

One of the abilities needed in facing the 21st century is the ability to think critically. Based on the results of previous studies showed that the critical thinking skills of high school students are still very low. One way to improve students' critical thinking skills is by applying cooperative learning models such as the Remap TSTS based learning model (Reading-Concept map-Two Stay Two Stray). This study aims to know the effect of the Remap TSTS model on students' critical thinking abilities. This research was conducted at some Tuban District High Schools: SMAN 1 Rengel, SMAN 1 Soko and SMAN 1 Parengan in 10th grade students. By Nonequivalent Control Group Design consisting of control and experimental groups that were not randomly selected, the study used quasy experiments. Data analysis used in this research was covariance analysis (Anacova) by using pretest and posttest data of students. The normality prerequisite test uses the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and homogeneity test with the levene test. After a prerequisite test is carried out, the hypothesis test is carried out by using anacova test with 5% significance level. The result showed that there was a difference in critical thinking skills between the experimental group and the control group. The significance value for the TSTS Remap model of critical thinking skills is sig (0,000) <0.05, which means there are differences in students' critical thinking skills with the application of the TSTS Remap model. This study shows that the Remap TSTS model has an effect of 14.96% higher in improving students' critical thinking skills compared to the control group.
