Abstract

The background of this research is ethnic diversity in Indonesia, where due ethnic and cultural diversity will then occur at different interaction patterns community. As there is in society in general Jalan Basuki Rahmat Tulungagung East Java, there are three ethnic groups living and that is ethnic Chinese, Javanese, Banjar. In daily life they hang out with close and intimate despite having its own customs. On the basis of this background, the writer wanted to know the pattern of inter-ethnic communication Chinese - Banjar - Java on Jl. Basuki Rahmat Tulungagung to coexist. Theory which became the basis of research in which the author is a phenomenological theory of communication patterns formed is based on individual responses on the phenomena or events that occur. The method used in this research is qualitative research methods with the approach descriptive, where the author simply describes the phenomenon, no attempt to find theory or test a particular hypothesis. The results explain that the people of the three ethnic differences, the ethnic Chinese, ethnic Banjar, and ethnic Javanese in communicating always notice background of the person you're talking and trying to maintain harmony. Here, there are communication pattern where the three ethnic groups interact to form a communication emphatic that are more tolerant of pluralism each ethnicity. Can then defined factors supporting and inhibiting communication patterns between Chinese culture, Banjar, and Java in Tulungagung. Where is the supporting factors are: (a) The location where the equation residence, (b) Tolerance, (c) Awareness of the difference, (d) Willingness to blend, and (e) The same communication language.
