Abstract

The development of technology and industry in various fields of life has an impact on the sustainability of ecosystems, one of which is environmental pollution. The waste produced by the factory contains various elements that are harmful to human life, one of which is heavy metal. The presence of heavy metals in the environment can reduce the microbial population both in number and diversity of species. Microbial resistance to chromium has been found in Pseudomonas sp, Alcaligenes sp, Salmonella sp, Streptococcus sp, Aeromonas sp and Enterobacter sp (Misra, 1992). This study aims to identify bacteria in industrial waste and determine the ability of isolated bacteria from industrial waste-contaminated soil to produce phytohormones and specific metabolites in remediating heavy metals. The implementation of this research was conducted at the Biotechnology Laboratory of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang in March to October 2018. The stages of this research included sampling, tool sterilization, preparation of M63 solid media and heavy metals, bacterial isolation of industrial waste, identification and purification of bacterial colonies, stock preparation culture of bacterial isolates, standard bacterial tolerance test, fitohormone test of Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). The data obtained in this research is displayed in the form of images, graphs and tables. Image data are presented as a result of identification of bacteria through colony morphology and streak or streaking results. While graph and table data are presented in graphical form and Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). There are 15 types of bacteria that have been successfully isolated from activated sludge and tanned water, 8 bacterial sampels successfully survived the tolerance test for the heavy metal sampels are LK4B1, LK2B9, LK3B10, LK3B11, LK2B12, LK2B13, LK2B14, LK2B15. The results of GC-MS analysis in the LK2B15 sampel are known to produce secondary metabolites to fight heavy metal stress, namely α Ketoglutaric acid (C5H6O5), Xanthine (C5H4N4O2), γ Glutamyl alanine (C8H14N2O5), Ribitol 5 phosphate (C5H13O8P), Galactosamine (C6H13NO5), Gluconic acid (C6H12O7). GC-MS analysis results which act as fitohorom namely α Aminobutyric acid (C4H9NO2), 3 Indoleacetic acid (C10H9NO2), Kinetin (C10H9N5O), N6 Benzyladenine 9 glucoside (C18H21N5O5), Kinetin glucoside (C16H19N5O7).
