Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems have an important role in maintaining the balance of nature in the coastal area to the Mainland. In addition to this mangrove ecosystems also have economical functions, so many human beings who also take advantage of that potential. If exploited excessively regardless of preserved, then what happens is the damage to the ecosystem and resulted in the immediate surroundings. This research aims to assess the extent of damage of mangrove ecosystems and cause factors in the coastal area of Kasemen Sub-district, Serang, Banten Province, review of environmental governance, and coastal area management plans of rehabilitation mangrove. Mangrove forests of Probolinggo Regency Tongas Subdistrict survey results in airy found 4 types of mangrove Rhizophora mucronata L.mk, Avicennia alba B1, and Sonneratia alba J. E. Smith. Of the 4 types of dominating the area i.e. the type of Rhizophora mucronata L.mk. The extent of damage of mangrove ecosystems in different Tongas – different from each village. Of the 5 villages there are mangrove vegetation there are two villages that are included in the category are damaged i.e. village of Dungun with Density 816.66 ind/Ha and the village of Bayeman with 875 ind/Ha density. On to the other 3 villages mangrove vegetation still belongs either at the village of Dringu have a Bulk density 1483.66 ind/Ha, Tongas Wetan Village has a density 1262.5 ind/Ha, and the village of Tongas Kulon has 1212.49 ind/Ha density. Cause factor mangrove ecosystem damage caused due to conversion of land into fish ponds. Strategies of mangrove ecosystem rehabilitation of damaged: 1) replanting acres of damaged mangroove and empty 2) Implement the system silfofhiseri or wanamina on the farming land as well as 3) improving the quality of HUMAN RESOURCES for the local community through training and guidance
