Abstract
Water is the main requirement and has become an important part of the life of all living beings on this earth. . Humans, animals, plants, and other living forms always use water as the basic needs of everyday. Thus the importance of this water so that its presence should be maintained to avoid shortages in the future. Methods of data collection in this study among others by gathering secon-dary data of water flow and extensive woods and rainfall data in each sub-watershed which includes sub-Konto, Ambang, Melamon, and that includes Lesti in DAS Brantas. Data analysis was divided into two kinds of fluctuation analysis and test flow of water and forest area of influence of rainfall on the water flow. Upper Brantas Watershed condition overall categorized for bad enough to moderate. This is obtained after the analysis of hi-parameter data from drologi each - each sub-watershed. Hydrological parameters is different between a river regime coefficient (KRS), Water Use Index (IPA), runoff coefficient (C), and CoefficientVariance(CV). Conditions of water flow of Sub-Watershed Lesti and Konto during reform, tend to be high compared after reform. Sub-Basin water debit Lesti in November 1999 for 11,812 m3. while the flow of water Konto Watershed Sub in December 1995 for 10,053 m3. This is caused by rampant illegal logging activities. In regression testing, among other interpretations available, there is no influence significantly between forest area and rainfall on water flow in watersheds Lesti Sub. Meanwhile, the Sub Konto watershed, there is the influence that significant between forest area and rainfall on the water flow. Based on the conclusion that there is, there is need for quality improvement efforts Upper Brantas Basin ahead, especially for BPDAS, namely by applying the watershed management strategy that is more concerned with the balance of ecosystems such as forests re-greening inside and outside the watershed area for the high pressure water flow.
