Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of mathematical learning design based on concept attaintment and mind mapping on the understanding of concepts and rational thinking skills of high school students. This type of research is a quantitative approach with the type of research being quasi-experimental. The sample in this study were students of class XI IPA Malang I Senior High School consisting of experimental classes and control classes, each of which amounted to 28 students. The instrument in this study used a pretest and posttest to measure concept understanding and students' creative thinking abilities. Data analysis techniques in the study used the normality test, homogeneity test and hypothesis test. The results showed that there was an effect of the use of concept attaintment and Mind map learning design on the understanding of concepts and creative thinking skills of students of class XI IPA 3 Malang State High School I. This is indicated by the average posttest results of the concept comprehension ability in the experimental class class is superior to the control class namely 84.03 in the control class and 91.32 in the experimental class. While the average posttest results of creative thinking ability in the experimental class class were also superior to the control class ie 83.21 in the control class and 89.46 in the experimental class.
