Abstract

Head lettuce is a horticultural plant whose growth is strongly influenced by temperature. It is proven that in the moderate to low growth plains where the air temperature is higher than the temperature in the lettuce plateau it is not good enough so that the lettuce flower faster and does not produce crops . The optimum air temperature for growth is 15-250C. This study aims to determine the effect of temperature on the and growth production of 2 varieties of Head lecttuce in the growth chamber. This research was conducted at CV KARYA BRAWIJAYA Malang, East Java 65151 from January to September 2018. The experiment was conducted with Nested Design. The first factor is the temperature consists of 4 levels, namely T0 = room temperature (Control), T1 = 160C - 170C, T2 =220C - 230C and T3 = 320C - 330C, the second factor is the variety of crop lettuce consisting of 2 levels, namely V1 = Great Alisan and V2 = General. The parameters used in this study include germination stage (when germination, germination percentage, leaf appearance, normal germination and abnormal germination) and growth stage in the growth chamber (plant height, leaf number, leaf color, plant temperature, crop age, crop color, crop diameter, crop fresh weight, crop dry weight, crop density, root fresh weight, root dry weight of total plant fresh weight, total plant dry weight, amount of chlorophyll, and SEM (scanning electron microscop). The results showed that the air temperature treatment affected the growth and production peubahs of two head lettuce varieties including: plant height, leaf number, leaf color, age of crop appearance, crop diameter, crop density, bottom crop color, fresh weight of crop, crop dry weight, root length, root fresh weight, root dry weight, total fresh weight of plants, total dry weight of plants and chlorophyll. There is an effect of air temperature on the structure and anatomy of the leaves on various temperature treatments including: the number of stomata, the length of the stomata, the width of the stomata, epidermis, and transport vessels
