Abstract

This study aims to determine the growth response and yield of large red chili (Capsicum annuum L.) plants using organic planting pots made from water hyacinth and coconut fiber. This research was conducted from April to July 2018. This study was conducted using a simple Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 6 treatments including controls repeated 3 times. The treatment to be tested is as follows: P0: control namely without using organic pots, PO1: Hyacinth Hyacinth: Coconut Fiber (40%: 60%), PO2: Hyacinth Hyacinth: Coconut Fiber (50%: 50%), PO3: Hyacinth Hyacinth : Coconut Fiber (60%: 40%), PO4: Hyacinth Hyacinth: Coconut Fiber Coir (70%: 30%), and PO5: Hyacinth Hyacinth: Coconut Fiber (80%: 20%). Based on the results of the study, the use of organic planting pots made from water hyacinth and coconut fiber to the growth and yield of berry red pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) can be concluded that the treatment of organic planting pots made from water hyacinth is 70%: 30% coconut fiber has a very significant effect on the growth of large red chili plants, namely plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, plant wet weight 388.78 grams and the results of large red chili (Capsicum annuum, L.), namely fruit number 50.94, fruit length 16.9 cm, stem diameter 16.98 mm, weight fruit per plant of 436.1 grams. The treatment of the use of organic planting pots made from water hyacinth and coconut fiber in large red chili showed a variable that had a very strong correlation of 0.93 between observing the total fruit count, fruit weight per plant.
