Abstract

Background : Karate is a martial art without using weapons which in its activities requires a lot of powerful movements. In karate the level of fitness can affect achievement. One component of fitness is cardiorespiratory endurance that is closely related to VO2 Max. VO2 Max is the maximum amount of oxygen which is can be consumed during intense physical activity until exhaustion occurs. Body Mass Index is a simple way to verify the adult nutritional status, particularly with regard to the deficiencies and excess body weight. Research Methods : Research design used in this study was observational analytics with cross sectional observational study. The sample number of participants were 30 in accordance with the criteria of inclusion and exlusion. It was measured using microtoice and scales to measure the body mass index and balke test to measure the VO2 Max. Result : the results of research using the test of pearson has gained significant greater value that 5% alpha (0,945>0,05) or (ρ>0,05), its mean H0 is accepted and the other word there is no correlation between body mass index though VO2 Max on karate athletes at Dojo Abdul Rachman Saleh Airbase Malang. Conclusion : There is no correlation between body mass index though VO2 Max on karate athletes at Dojo Abdul Rachman Saleh Airbase Malang.
