Abstract

The Low Carbon Green Growth Policy is a policy adopted from Green Growth and implemented by South Korea with the aim of addressing economic and environmental concerns. The three main objectives of this policy are addressing climate change issues and creating energy independence, creating new growth engines, and improving people's quality of life. The research discusses how the implementation of Low Carbon Green Growth policy in South Korea is viewed from a green political perspective analyzed using Green Politics theory with a focus on decentralized values by Matthew Paterson and democratic values by John Barry. Through these values the author will explain the policy of Low Carbon Green Growth policy. This study shows the results that South Korea as a country that adheres to the democratic system since the 1980s has succeeded in applying democratic values related to Low Carbon Green Growth policy by involving the contribution of the community both directly and through representation in the policy making process and the independence of each region to making policies (not centralized). This is a reflection of the green political values of decentralization and democracy that have been applied by South Korea.
