Abstract

Background : Keji beling leaf is one of the interesting plants to research because contains flavonoid compound which is empirically believed to be able to overcome and prevent kidney stones. Objective : the aims of this research is to determine the effect of binder CMC-Na concentrations 1% 2% 3% to physical quality of keji beling leaf extract tablet and determine the optimal concentration of CMC-Na which is can produce keji beling leaf extract tablet that is fulfill the requirements. Method : Keji beling leaf extract was made by immersion maceration method with 96% ethanol solvent. Tablet was made using wet granulation method with CMC-Na binder. Investigatiuon of the physical quality of tablet that is included hardness, fragility and disintegration time then analyzed statistically. Result and conclution : the result of this research shows that with an increase of binder CMC-Na concentration it could increase hardness, reduce friability and increase the disintegration time of keji beling leaf extract tablets. Statistical analysis shows a significant difference in hardness and disintegration time of tablet, while on tablet fragilities there is not significant difference on 1%, 2% and 3% concentrations. Formula 2 with 1% CMC-concentration is a formula has been chosen based in the physical quality of the tablet that fulfill the requirements.
