Abstract

Myanmar is one of the world's most ethnic countries. This internal conflict has occurred since the British colonized and exacerbated the relations between ethnic groups and led to the rebellion. The civilian government at that time could not resolve the insurgency and even the governance of the military under the peak of the conflict. Then the new government in 2012 established the Myanmar Peace Center for a peaceful process between the Myanmar government and the armed ethnic group. This study focuses on MPC's influence on the peace process between the Myanmar government and the armed ethnic group. This research uses explanative method by collecting data through library research. In support of this research, researchers use conflict resolution by Johan Galtung where in the conflict resolution there are three stages of peace that is peacekeeping, peacemaking and peacebuilding. In addition, in conflict resolution, there are two peaceful aspects: negative peace and positive peace. The MPC implements two peaceful stages of peacemaking by engaging in multiple dialogues towards peace as well as mine action and peacebuilding with coordination of assistance in conflict-affected areas and assisting in the spread of peace. The MPC also implements a negative peace with declining rebellion and ceasefire agreement and positive peace with the peaceful wishes of the government and armed ethnic groups and the government's attention.
