Abstract

CPEC is one of China's One Belt One Road (OBOR) programs that was first realized with a $ 46 billion Chinese investment for infrastructure development in Pakistan. Construction of infrastructure related to roads, railways, oil, and gas pipelines, fiber optics, Special Economic Zones (SEZ), and the construction of the Gwadar Port in Pakistan. This study examine why China is doing CPEC cooperation seen from the strategic side of Pakistan. The author uses a geopolitical concept line of communication and centers of resoureces to explain Pakistan's strategic position for China. As well as using Rimland Theory to explain why China is doing CPEC cooperation. This research uses explanative method with the completion of literature study that is through books, scientific journals, internet articles, online news sites and related working paper. The reason for China because of the location of Pakistan makes sense to have access to the sea to the Middle East and Africa. In addition, natural resources in Pakistan can be utilized to build the industry. China under the cooperation of CPEC built SEZ in the provinces of Pakistan. In accordance with OBOR's plan, China wants to build a market in Eurasia but to meet the needs of oil, gas, and other natural resources, it has to take control of one of its natural resources in Pakistan.
