Abstract

DC motor position control using Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) controller is one of the methods of designing modern control systems. The application used here is to control the speed of a DC motor by determining the angular position of the dual-axis tracking of the reflected solar panel. Controlling the speed of a DC motor is very important because every small change can occur, causing the system to become unstable. The purpose of this paper is to show how DC motors can be controlled by using controlled LQR in LabVIEW and implemented in tracking systems. The DC motor will be connected to LabVIEW using the embedded myRIO-1900 system. DC motor speed will be adjusted by making front panel graph display for LQR controller in LabVIEW. LabVIEW will send commands via wireless to myRIO-1900 system, then from digital I / O pins connected to VNH2SP30 driver via serial to DC motor using PWM pin. The DC motor will rotate at a speed specified by the user in LabVIEW. Effect of speed to determine the angle on DC motor will be felt by using sensor encoder. From the encoder sensor, the output will be fed back to the LQR controller in LabVIEW via myRIO-1900. The LQR controller compares the actual speed of the DC motor to the specified speed, if the speed is not the same, the LQR controller will try to reduce the error and bring the motor to the desired set point value.
